On Skin and Hands

Spring has arrived. The sun is shining in the sky, we turn our faces towards it and let it warm our skin.

The skin is our largest sensory organ. It is both the body's boundary and its connection to the environment. Through the skin we perceive whether something is hot or cold, hard or soft. Whether a touch is pleasant or painful. The sense of touch of our hands is part of this sensory organ. With our hands we can perceive the most subtle differences.

We have thought about the skin of goats and how the condition and feel of it changes in the process in which it becomes leather. In each process, the hands of another person grasps, touches and processes the skin. It takes many movements of many hands to turn it into a bag that we can hand over to you, its owner.

We have photographed a few of these hands and are happy to share the pictures with you.
