Workshop series "The path of leathe"

Leather stays with us for a lifetime – warm, soft, and durable. But where does its journey begin? And how much craftsmanship, patience, and care are woven into every piece?

With "The path of leather" we are fulfilling a long-held wish: to share our love for this material and the knowledge we’ve gathered over the years. In collaboration with Regional Leather, we invite you to experience leather’s journey up close – mindfully, authentically, and with all your senses. In small groups, we open doors that are usually closed: on the farm, you’ll discover the origins – natural cycles, pastures, animals, and a deep connection to nature. At the tannery, you’ll feel how raw hides are transformed into leather through traditional craftsmanship – a process rich in scent, time, and transformation. And in the studio, you’ll work with your own hands: from carefully selected leather pieces, you’ll craft small companions, each as unique as you are. These are days for all the senses – for those who want to understand where things come from and who find joy in creating with their own hands.

Each workshop is thoughtfully curated to guide you along the journey of leather.

Upcoming Workshops

In our first workshop "From tanning to creation", we invite you to experience the fascinating journey of leather up close. From the raw material at the tannery to creative creating in the studio – join us on a day filled with craftsmanship, patience, and passion.

You’ll gain insights into traditional techniques, soak in the unique atmosphere of the tannery, and get hands-on as you shape your own leather piece. In a small, intimate group, there’s plenty of space to ask questions, marvel at the process, and discover the craft with all your senses.

This workshop is for anyone curious about the origins of leather and excited to create something unique with their own hands – whether you’re a complete beginner or already have some experience.

    We travel by train.

  • "From tanning to creation" is our first workshop, inviting you to follow leather along its journey. A day full of inspiration awaits you.

    Station 01: The tannery
You step into a place where time has a different rhythm. Here, you’ll discover how raw animal hides are transformed into leather through traditional craftsmanship. Take in the scent of the tanning pits, feel the coarse texture of the hides, and witness how patience, natural tanning agents, and meticulous work create a precious material. Together with the tanners, we’ll talk about their philosophy, their respect for animals and nature, and why true sustainability takes time.

    Station 02: Atelier
At the studio in Zurich, you’ll get hands-on: using carefully selected pieces of leather, you’ll create your own small companion – an accessory that will remind you of the craftsmanship and care woven into this material. You’ll learn the essential steps of leatherworking, cutting, embossing, and stitching under guidance – all at your own pace and with an eye for detail.

    Between the stations
We take our time – for conversations, observations, and questions. For a short break in between and moments where you can simply watch, feel, and take it all in. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about approaching the materials and the craft with mindfulness and care.
