Origin

Our goatskin is made from the hides of animals raised on small farms in the Emmental, Jura, and Ticino regions. There are approximately 80,000 goats in Switzerland, which are primarily raised for milk production—there is hardly any use for the young male goats, and their hides often go unused. Our cowhide is made from the hides of animals raised using organic, biodynamic, and regenerative farming methods. In both cases, the hides are a valuable byproduct of milk and meat production. Instead of letting them be burned, we collect them through G. Neuenschwander Söhne AG in the Emmental, a company that has specialized in the preservation and storage of hides and skins for over 150 years.

Tanning

Our hides are processed at the Renz tannery in southern Germany, a family-owned business that has specialized in vegetable tanning since 1888. Instead of using environmentally harmful chemicals, the hides are tanned using plant extracts from wood, bark, and tree fruits—one of the oldest tanning methods in existence, which is now used for only about 10% of all leather. The result: an open-pored, breathable leather that retains its natural characteristics and develops a beautiful patina over time.

Processing

Our bags and accessories are crafted in small workshops in Switzerland and Germany—handmade in small batches.
