NEW IN ♡ Our new sling bag is here.
Some things are born not from a search for something new, but from a longing for clarity. That is how our new bum bag came to be—stripped down to the essentials, crafted from vegetable-tanned leather with a story, and made to walk beside you for a long time.
Limited edition, available in natural or black. Discover our sling bag here, and find the inspiration behind it in our Field Notes.

From Waste to Value
At MARAI, we believe in the quiet beauty of authenticity, in materials that tell stories, and in hands that create with care. Our products are made from regional, vegetable-tanned leather and Swiss sheep and lambskins – both by-products of the food industry that would otherwise go to waste. We give them a second life, transforming what is overlooked into timeless companions full of character.
Each piece tells a story of mindfulness, craftsmanship, and appreciation for what endures.

Some shapes need no reinvention. The Simplicity backpack carries a slender, upright silhouette. One main compartment, a single strap, two brass snap buttons. Nothing more is needed.
What remains is chosen with intention: 2.5-millimetre-thick vegetable-tanned leather, crafted from the hides of animals on Swiss organic farms, tanned especially for us in southern Germany. Every piece is sewn by hand in the canton of Bern — from the first cut to the final stitch. Made in Switzerland, in every single step.
The backpack holds everything your day brings along: a laptop, notebooks, a book, a water bottle, and a sweater for later.
Dimensions: 36cm x 31cm x 10cm, adjustable strap (61-82cm)
Materials:
Organic cowhide, vegetable-tanned in southern Germany
Buckles and press studs made of brass
Sewn in the canton of Bern.
Genuine natural leather breathes - just like our skin. With time and use, the leather becomes more supple and softer and develops a unique patina. You can find out more about this in our blog.
