Our leather is purely vegetable tanned with a natural finish. Through the process of milling, the leather becomes very soft and the natural structure of the skin appears.   

Every leather hide is unique with slight imperfections and can include variations in colour, texture and markings, making each bag a one of a kind. Over time, the leather will evolve with daily use, it becomes softer and more supple and develops a unique patina.

Want your Marai product to develop a super even patina? We suggest polishing it with a natural leather balm and a smooth, undyed cotton cloth before you use it for the first time. This helps the leather get consistent care right from the start, leading to a really beautiful finish over time. And good news – you won't need any fancy special products for future care!

If the product gets wet, it can be dried carefully with a hair dryer.
