Nothing To Hide

In the fashion industry, trends and prices determine how products are designed and brought to market. Often the supply chains are very long and opaque, and the production of many goods takes place at the expense of people and nature.

This is partly the case with the production of leather. Non-transparent global supply chains, the use of harmful chemicals in tanning and critical working conditions are just a few reasons.

But animal hides are an essential by-product of the meat and dairy industry. And as long as the consumption of animal products within the food industry continues, there is nothing more sensible than using the hides of these animals - instead of burning them.

In Switzerland alone, tens of thousands of goat and sheep hides are disposed of every year. One of the reasons for the lack of demand for local hides is the vegan lifestyle, which promotes the demand for artificial leather - and advertises synthetic materials, which are largely made of petroleum-based components, as sustainable alternatives. We are very saddened by this development, and we strive not only to do good with our work, but also to provide information on what's not working in the industry.

We are therefore very happy that we can be guests at our appreciated stockist TRACES, Lucerne (CH), on 27 April at 6pm, and talk about the leather industry - and show what we do differently. If you're in the area, we'd love to have you join us. You can easily register by mail.
