Slow Creation: Here's how our first leather belt workshop went
Some evenings remind us why we do what we do.
Last Thursday, we all got together after work in Zurich for our leather belt workshop. From 6 PM to 9:30 PM, we were busy cutting, embossing, sewing, laughing, and chatting. Folks from our community came together to create something with their own hands: their very own personalized leather belt.
And just like every time we get to meet our community in person, I had so much fun! In a world where so much has become digital and fast-paced, there's something truly special about sitting together at a table and creating something lasting, step by step. No rush. No pressure to be perfect. Just taking our time, focusing, and enjoying the craft.
Slow creation, not a rush job. You can't make a good leather belt in just a few minutes.
So, our leather belt workshop in Zurich isn't about quickly taking home a finished product. It's all about experiencing the creation process. We work with local, vegetable-tanned leather from CORII and guide participants step-by-step through each part of the craft. This includes everything from cutting and finishing the edges to embossing and stitching.
Many were surprised by how much handcraft and care goes into what seems like a simple accessory. And that's exactly what makes leather so special to us. It's a material that needs time to develop. It doesn't hide signs of use; instead, it lets them become part of its story.
Why a leather belt can be your lifelong companion
During the workshop, we often talked about the same question: What makes a really good belt? For us, the answer is simple.
A good leather belt is timeless. It'll be with you for years, getting softer and developing its own unique character over time. It adapts to your daily life and often looks even better after years than it did on day one. That's why we craft our belts from high-quality vegetable-tanned leather – a natural material that ages beautifully instead of just wearing out. Unlike many mass-produced belts, vegetable-tanned leather develops a unique patina over time. Every scratch, every crease, and every mark tells a piece of its own story. And it's exactly this lasting quality that we love sharing with everyone who joins our workshops.
More than just a leather strap workshop
What really sticks with us isn't just the finished belts. It's the chats we have along the way. People who didn't know each other before suddenly working together on their projects, sharing stories, experiences, and ideas. It's the joy of seeing a piece of leather slowly turn into a finished belt. For three hours, we create a space where it's not about what you achieve, but about being present. A space for creativity, craftsmanship, and genuine connections.
Our timeless leather belt
If you can't wait for our next workshop, you'll also find our handmade leather belt in our collection. It's crafted from high-quality organic leather, with a simple, timeless design. This companion just gets better with age and is built to last for many, many years. Because we truly believe the best products aren't the ones you replace all the time. They're the ones that stay with you.
Thanks for a great evening! A big thank you to everyone who joined us at the last leather belt workshop in Zurich. We really appreciate your openness, curiosity, the interesting chats, and your passion for craftsmanship. We're already looking forward to our next evening together. And who knows – maybe your next favorite belt won't come from a shop, but from your own hands!
